Link Facebook won't go the way of MySpace, Friendster, etc., because its high quality open platform breeds startup innovation on the foundation of a massive user base. Friendster couldn't innovate fast enough on its own against more agile startups, but Facebook doesn't need to. Twitter has established the same dynamic by embracing its developer community.
